New Features in BES 3.0

New Features

  • Improved Performance - All components have been further optimized to increase overall system performance. BES Server scalability has been significantly increased as a result.

  • Hierarchical Grouping - BES Clients may now be grouped hierarchically in the BES Console, allowing the administrator to view computers and deploy actions to them based on their hierarchical location.

  • Active Directory Integration - The BES Console now integrates with Active Directory (if available), allowing the administrator to view computers and deploy actions based on Active Directory domains and organizational units.

  • Additional Fixlet List Information - The BES Console now displays a number of new properties with each Fixlet message, including patch download size, release date, severity, and affected products. These additional properties facilitate quick prioritization of patches for deployment.

  • Multiple Action Deployment – Administrators can now deploy multiple patches to a computer or set of computers with a single action, significantly reducing the effort and time needed to bring computers to full compliance.

  • BES Console Operator Privileges – Each administrator can now be assigned specific administration privileges, which determine which set of computers they are allowed to view or deploy actions to in the network.

  • Download Restart and Bandwidth Throttling – All BES components can now restart failed downloads at the point that they failed, and throttle the amount of bandwidth used while downloading. These features are particularly useful when administering remote or dial-up computers.
