BigFix Platform Support Policy

General Support Policy

BigFix will provide full support for all product components on all supported platforms. Support details are listed in your BigFix contract.

BES Clients

• Windows NT SP6a/95/98/Me/2000/XP/2003 with IE 4.01+ (x86) -- All BES Client versions
• Windows 2003/XP (x64)(including Windows 2003 R2) -- BES 5.0+ works on x64, but BES 6.0+ provides full support for x64 parts of the file system/registry
• Windows Vista (x86/x64)-- BES 6.0.15+
• Windows 2003 Itanium -- BES 7.0+
• Windows Server 2008 (x86/x64) -- BES 7.0.9+
• HPUX 11.00/11.11 (RISC) -- BES 3.0+
• HPUX 11.23 (RISC) -- BES 6.0+

• BES Client UI for Windows requires a minimum browser of IE 5.0

BES Console

• Windows 2000/XP/2003 (x86/x64) with IE 5.5/6/7 -- BES Console versions less than 7.0.
• Windows 2000 SP3+/XP/2003/Vista (x86/x64) with IE 6.0 SP1+/7.0 -- BES Console version 7.0.
• BES 7.0 requires Windows Installer 3.1 (Windows 2000 requires SP3 for Windows Installer 3.1).

BES Server

• Windows 2000 (SP2+)/2003 (x86/x64) with SQL Server 2000 (SP 4) -- BES 4.1+
• Windows 2000 (SP2+)/2003 (x86/x64) with SQL Server 2005 -- BES 6.0+

BES Relays

• Windows NT SP6a/2000/XP/2003 (x86/x64) -- BES 4.1+
• Windows Vista (x86/x64) -- BES 7.0+
• Windows Server 2008 -- BES 7.0.9+

Configurations

• All components on VMWare and Virtual PC (please note performance concerns)
• Major/minor version of BES Server must equal BES Console version (i.e., BES Console and Server must both be at 6.0.x.x)
• BES Server must have an equivalent or higher major/minor version than the BES Relays
• BES Server and BES Relays must have an equivalent or higher major/minor version than the BES Clients (unless explictly listed above)

Untested Configurations

Untested configurations are platforms, applications, and software configurations that have not been explicitly tested by BigFix. BigFix does NOT provide official support for untested configurations. However, due to similarities with other supported configurations, untested configurations often have no known problems or very limited problems. Sometimes untested configurations will become fully supported if BigFix is able to do full testing and confirm there are no known issues.

BigFix support will answer support questions related to untested configurations, but due to the fact that there has not been extensive testing, BigFix does not recommend using untested configurations on production computers.

BES Client

• IBM zLinux (pending testing for full support)
• Solaris 9 (x86)
• Windows Longhorn
• Gentoo
• Debian
• BES Client UI with IE 4.0

BES Console

• Windows 2000 with IE 5.0 and BES Console 6.0 (Beginning with BES Console 7.0 the minimum browser required is IE 6.0).
• Windows Server 2008 (pending testing for full support)
• Windows Vista and BES Console 6.0.

BES Server

• Windows Server 2008 (pending testing for full support)

Configurations

• BES Client 6.0 with a BES 5.1 Server (except Windows Vista BES 6.0 clients are supported for BES 5.1 Servers)

Not Supported Configurations

Not supported configurations are known to not work or have serious issues. BigFix will not be able assist with support calls related to unsupported configurations. The support response will be to change the configuration to a supported configuration.

Configurations

• All BES components version 5.0 and earlier.
• BES 6.0 Relays with a BES 5.1 Server.
• Oracle databases for the BES Server database.
• Operating systems families not listed above.
