These are 3 preferences within the TEM Console that have specific behaviors when set.

They are accessed via the Console menu File --> Preferences...

Refresh list every X seconds (not synchronized across Console, but a floor can be set)



Determines how often the Console automatically queries the database for changes. This is why the Console automatically refreshes at specific intervals.

For large deployments, it is important to change the default, otherwise the Console will get interrupted very 15 seconds to query the database. For even larger deployments, we recommend turning auto refresh off.

Note that using the TEM Administration Tool, we can set the "Minimum Refresh Interval" in the System Options tab. This is intended to prevent excessive database loads.



This value is saved in the Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BigFix\Enterprise Console\Preferences as "Tree Refresh Timeout".

Send heartbeat every X minutes (synchronized across Console)



By default the TEM Clients "check in" to the TEM Server on a regular interval known as a "heartbeat". When the TEM Clients send in a heartbeat to the TEM Server, they will update their "Last Report Time" property along with any other properties that have changed since the last heartbeat.

This option within the Console can only be changed by the Master Operator.

When changing the value, note that the TEM certificate authentication password will be requested, because an Analysis is created to ask all Clients to observe the new value.



The value is saved in the TEM database, and all Consoles will reflect the newest value.

Mark as offline after X minutes (not synchronized across Console)



Marking a computer as offline by graying out the entry is merely a visual indicator, and there are no behavioral difference while using the Console.



The value is saved in the Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BigFix\Enterprise Console\Preferences as "OfflineToleranceDiff".

It is saved as a tolerance on top of the Heartbeat.

For example, if the Heartbeat is 15 minutes, and the OfflineToleranceDiff is 30 minutes, computers will show as offline after 45 minutes.
