Client Manager for Spyware Tools

To help you fight Spyware infections in your organization, BigFix is releasing a Fixlet site that will leverage the existing BES infrastructure to install, deploy, run, and manage specific AntiSpyware products. The Client Manager for Spyware Tools Fixlet site supports the following products:

Enterprise AntiSpyware Products (you must have an existing license with these companies):

Instructions for using Client Manager for Spyware Tools

Follow these simple instructions to begin using the Client Manager for Spyware Tools site:

Subscribe to the Fixlet site

  1. Subscribe to the Client Manager for Spyware Tools Eval site available here or contact your sales representative for the production site .
  2. After the site subscribes the BES Clients will report a number of Fixlets, Tasks, and Analyses.

Spybot - Search & Destroy

  1. Use the "Deploy Spybot ..." Task to deploy the Spybot application to specific computers. (More information is available in each of the Tasks and Fixlets).
  2. Use the "Update Definitions ..." Fixlet message to make sure Spybot is up-to-date (if the Fixlet becomes re-relevant later, it means there are new definitions.)
  3. Use the "Run Spybot ..." Task to run Spybot. You can schedule it to run at a specific time if you would like.
  4. After running Spybot, a Fixlet will become relevant called "Update Statistics ...". Run this Fixlet to bring the updated information about Spyware infections to the BES Console (it is recommended you deploy this as a policy action.)
  5. Activate the two Analyses whose name starts with "Spybot...". This is where you will see the run statistics, Spyware infections, and configuration information for the Spybot applications.
  6. Use the "Spybot Configuration Wizard" to create a Task that will configure Spybot's settings, or to create a Fixlet message that you can apply to periodically run Spybot.
